We’re thrilled to officially announce that José Valim, the creator of Elixir, has joined Slab as an advisor!
Learning and growing are central to Slab's culture. Regardless of how proficient we become, we're always striving to build the very best product we can, in order to deliver top-notch experiences for our users. This approach was instilled on day one when we decided to build Slab with Elixir back in 2016. It was the right tool for the right job to create a responsive, real-time application in an ever-complex world of software.
Today, we’re thrilled to officially announce that José Valim, the creator of Elixir, has joined Slab as an advisor! Part of our journey of learning and growing means pushing the boundaries of our own understanding and capabilities of our tools. We've been fortunate to be able to work with José and tap his expertise to architect and build the most reliable, scalable, and performant system to serve our users.
In addition to Elixir, José has had a distinguished career in software and open source. He was previously a member of the Rails core team, earning a Ruby Hero Award for his contributions to open source. He also received the Erlang User of the Year award in 2015 for his work in the ecosystem. He is a regular keynote speaker at some of the largest technical conferences in the world, has authored multiple books on highly technical subjects, and is a core member of critical libraries including Ecto, Phoenix, and Nx.
The Slab team is pushing boundaries with Elixir and tackling exciting challenges in building highly collaborative real-time experiences. With their long-standing commitment to using Elixir and contributing to open source, I'm confident that we will learn and create great things together.
Since our inception, we've only grown more confident in our choice to build on Elixir. We're delighted to see developers rank Elixir as the second most loved language out there and are excited to become more involved with the community and ecosystem.
Please join us in welcoming José Valim! If you'd like to share our pursuit of learning and growth and take part in our mission to make the workplace a place of learning and purpose through knowledge-sharing, visit our careers page to see available openings.
